Volunteer!

What Are Some Of Washington 's Biggest Employers Saying About Business Week?

"Leaders recognize that Washington Business Week is a unique opportunity to have a virtual leadership laboratory, an experience usually limited to the most senior people in a large organization. This is a place where one can put to practice mentoring, team building, artful persuasion and other critical skills while learning new ones."

-Stan W. McNaughton, President of PEMCO Financial Services

"The kids aren't the only ones getting an education. Our employees see their attendance at Business Week as an opportunity for personal growth."

-Heidi Stanley, EVP of Sterling Savings Bank

"We encourage our employees to participate in Business Week because it provides a great leadership development opportunity."

-Ed Rogel, VP of Human Resources at Weyerhaeuser

Volunteer!

Volunteering to change a life – it doesn’t get any better than that!

We are passionate about bringing together teens, educators, and business professionals from across the state to translate textbook theories into real-world experience. Over the past 30 years, more than 6,000 people just like you have participated in the Washington Business Week Program’s summer teen camp, or the in-school community program.

Please choose one of the following links for more information about volunteering at one of our 2010 Programs!

-Traditional Business Week

-Healthcare Week

-Construction Week

-Get AMPT! Week (new in 2010!)

There are two ways you can volunteer to change a life:

1.  Become a Company Advisor

during our summer teen camp, or

     during an in-school program

2.  Help to judge teen projects and

     presentations during our summer

     camp or in-school program.

And there are many ways you benefit from volunteering. In a recent survey of business professionals who volunteered their time at one of Washington Business Weeks’ programs, your peers said:

100% — I am more effective at facilitating groups toward goals
100% — I am better at fostering teamwork
94% — I am now more effective at leading teams
94% — I am more effective at leading individuals
94% — I have enhanced my interpersonal communications skills
81% — I have greater awareness of ethics

Washington Business Week is a week-long learning experience designed to provide high school students real-world experiences in careers covering business, healthcare, and construction. As teens learn about our free enterprise system, they’re also learning what it takes to move from the classroom to the boardroom. Your involvement is critical to our ability to fulfill our mission.

***A note to Boeing employees***

Please remember that Boeing coordinates their overall Business Week volunteer participation. All Boeing employees still require additional coordination with company program coordinators to be able to participate as CA's. WBW does not want to give the impression that specific people from Boeing have a guaranteed volunteer spot for this summer.
